ACG Sponsors the CTSI Welsh Spring Conference

12 April 2022

Last week it was a pleasure for the Anti-Counterfeiting Group (ACG) to head to Swansea as one of the many sponsors of the Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI) Welsh Spring Conference.

The conference allowed for the ACG team to meet Trading Standards Officers from all backgrounds and knowledge and tell them a little more about ACG and what they do.

The ACG ran a ‘Spot the Fake Competition’ which is a staple when the team exhibits, with thanks to the ACG brand members for sending in more genuine and fake items for Officers to identify.

The winner was chosen at random from all the correct answers and the winner did receive a luxury chocolate egg to take home.

Along with the sponsorship of the CTSI Welsh Spring Conference the ACG was lucky enough to snag a speaker slot during the 2-day conference and between the huge variety of speakers who attended the conference.

Director General, Phil Lewis hosted A Fireside Chat with Dr Joanna Large - ‘Exploring the scale and impact of illicit trade’. The fireside chat went into depth about Joanna’s background and her work, touching on the research she contributed to and the interesting topics of what drives consumers to buying counterfeits and why is it so difficult to tackle.

The fireside chat ended with her thoughts on if all government policy makers, business leaders, consumers and enforcement decision takers fully accept the impact and what does she think could be done better to combat the problem.

A huge thank you to Joanna Large for taking the time out of her busy schedule from being Senior Lecturer in Criminology at Bristol University.

The ACG looks forward to seeing more of you at the CTSI Conference in Bristol in June.
