ACG welcomes the latest report from the EUIPO.

02 March 2022

Making use of unique methodology, developed by its Technology Expert Group and a subsequent “deep dive” research study by the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Institute, the report outlines how artificial intelligence can be used for infringement and enforcement. The Technology experts identify several opportunities to improve efficiency in detecting infringements of IP rights. However, the advent of AI also attracts IP abusers, who can use the technology to target huge numbers of victims.

AI can clearly be of benefit, but also a serious threat if not properly regulated and ACG is calling on Governments to join together to develop common standards and boundaries for the current and future use of AI technology.
